Ingredients:

  • 1 lb sweet potato, peeled and cubed into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 4 tbsp breast milk, formula, or reserved steaming water

Instructions:

  1. Peel the sweet potato and cut it into small, uniform 1/2 inch (1.3cm) cubes to ensure rapid and even cooking.
  2. Place the cubes in a steamer basket over simmering water, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and steam for 10-12 minutes until tender.
  3. Transfer the steamed potatoes to a bowl. For infants 6+ months, blend until completely smooth; for infants 8+ months, mash with a fork to leave small, soft lumps.
  4. Gradually stir in the chosen liquid one tablespoon at a time until the desired velvety consistency is achieved.
